Rivet Amico has actively contributed to the social behavioral science of adherence and engagement in HIV prevention and treatment. Her work focuses on measurement and optimization of adherence through client-centered, strengths-based, best-practice informed strategies. She has participated in the development of guidelines for adherence and care-engagement for HIV-care, as well as PrEP implementation. Dr. Amico’s program of research includes ART adherence optimization for youth, uptake and adherence to PrEP, engagement in care among newly diagnosed individuals living with HIV, measurement approaches for risk perception and adherence for at-risk groups, and motivational-interviewing and eHealth strategies to promote HIV prevention and treatment, in both domestic (US) and international (South Africa, Kenya, Uganda) applications.
