After pausing in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic, ATN 139: Get Connected has resumed enrollments in Houston through Baylor/Texas Children’s Hospital. The medical center area has seen a drop in positivity rates for COVID-19, HIV testing sites are operating again, and transportation vendors are applying measures to decrease transmission risk.
Get Connected is a two-arm randomized controlled trial (RCT). Participants randomized to the control condition are directed to a website that includes information on HIV prevention services via the AIDSVu.org testing site locator. Participants randomized to the intervention condition will receive tailored online content specific to their demographic characteristics (e.g., age, race/ethnicity, location, and relationship status), HIV/STI risk behaviors (e.g., HIV/STI testing history; substance use; communication with partners regarding status) and sociocultural context (e.g., homelessness, incarceration).
