Principal Investigator

For the past 30 years I have been the Director of the Family Immunology Clinic at the Montefiore Medical Center. From the earliest days of the discovery of HIV infection in children, we have practiced family based care to both those living with HIV and affected individuals. Many of our patients have been in our care for up to 30 years. This demonstrates our ability to retain individuals in our treatment model. We provide multi-specialty care for entire families in a central site.
I have a long history of participation in clinical trials, including pediatric ACTG studies, one of which was the original maternal fetal transmission study. The current proposal to seek, test, treat, and retain individuals living with HIV in care is the natural extension of our group’s work over the past three and one half decades. Our group has the expertise and experience to maximize viral suppression and restore immune function for our patients, as well as optimize retention in care.
