Principal Investigator

I am a clinical HIV researcher who has 20 years of experience designing and conducting clinical HIV research and providing care to HIV infected infants, children and youth. I have been principal investigator for the Baylor Adolescent Trials Network (ATN) and co-principal investigator on the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort study for more than 5 years. I have many years of experience in designing and conducting clinical trials in HIV-infected infants, children, adolescents, and pregnant women dating back to 1994 when I conducted trials within the Pediatric AIDS Clinical Trials Group. In addition, I have participated in research as an investigator in the following study groups: CDC Pediatric Spectrum of Diseases (site PI); CDC LEGACY Protocol (site PI); Women and Infants Transmission Study (Co-I); IMPAACT (Co-I) where I have leadership experience as vice chair of a pharmacokinetics protocol studying the interactions of ADHD and antidepressant medications with HAART. I have co-authored more than 70 peer-reviewed papers many pertaining to HIV infected infants, children, and youth.
